About

I completed my doctorate at the University of Cambridge (2014), after receiving an MA in Intellectual History and the History of Political Thought from the University of London (2010), and a BA in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics from the University of Oxford (2008). From 2014-17 I was Junior Research Fellow at King’s College, Cambridge. Since then I have been based at the Department of Political Economy, King's College London.

In 2020 I received the British and Irish Association for Political Thought Early Career Award for excellence in research and teaching.

My academic work has been published in various books and scholarly journals. I also write reviews and articles for more popular audiences. See relevant pages for links and downloadable copies.

For many years I was passionately obsessed with rock climbing. From 2020-2022 I was President of the North London Mountaineering Club. However, in the summer of 2023 I suffered a catastrophic accident whilst climbing in Scotland. After narrowly surviving, I was left tetraplegic (paralysed from roughly the collarbones down) with only residual function in my hands. Following eight months in hospital, in early 2024 I attempted to resume academic work whilst adjusting to life with severe disability.

From early in the recovery process I have kept a public diary about my experiences. It can be found on Substack
